Post subject:  Heathrow's new speed cameras

Heathrow has put loads of speed cameras up around the perimeter road. They are a type i have never seen before MUCH smaller than the usual yellow box about the size of a shoebox and only an inch deep they are attached to lamp posts so if you are heading for T4 watch out as I'm sure they will prove very lucrative for the airport

This thread is a detailed discussion by those who are quite experienced in these matters:

If they are attempting to enforce under byelaws, they will be on an instant loser because they can only go after the driver, not the RK. There is no mechanism similar to s172 in the byelaws.

I'm up there tomorrow; I'll see if I can get a ticket! :D

Looking at the peepipoo thread it appears the cameras are no more than warnings/deterrents.

That said I've never seen an accident there, and rarely see cars speeding.

yesterday we crawled towards T4 at 30MPH  despite the fact the road speed is 40 and it wasn't heavy traffic

They are certainly slowing the traffic quite dramatically

The Southern Perimeter Road leading from M25 to T4 is, strictly, outside the Heathrow estate, I believe. Normal road traffic legislation applies.

They're anpr.

They 'can' be used for speed. Allegedly.

I'm due about 33 tickets. :D

None's arrived, and I haven't heard of a single letter being sent out.

Southern P.R going 30mph soon between T4 Long stay and hatton cross stn.
