A British-flagged oil tanker has been seized in the Gulf by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Iran media say. The owners of the Stena Impero, which was bound for Saudi Arabia, say they have been unable to contact the vessel and it is "heading north towards Iran". The company says there are 23 personnel on board and it was approached by "unidentified small crafts and a helicopter" in the Strait of Hormuz. The Foreign Office is "urgently" looking into the reports. The government's emergency committee, Cobra, is meeting in Whitehall to discuss the incident. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49053383 |

They've even come out and said, "they don't want a war with the West." Watch the price of fuel shoot up at the pumps, there's nothing like a bit of tensions to push the prices up. They shot up in 2001 when the Gulf war was in full swing, they haven't come down yet. |

It was flying the dreaded flag of convenience, another one of Blair and Prescott's hair brained ideas to circumnavigate the tonnage tax. |

My last two ships in the RN were type 23's. The one pictured is HMS MONTROSE. (I had HMS IRON DUKE and then HMS NORTHUMBERLAND.) When they came to the Fleet they were known as "Skoda Frigates" because they kept falling apart. Mind you they are still going, much better than the type 45 Destroyers. As to Oil, it will always be needed - as lubricant on Door Hinges! I don't like it but we all be "Electric" far sooner than I thought 2 or 3 years ago. |

The same as coal, oil is as important to our way of life as there are thousands of every day products derived from coal and oil. |
