Gas central heating is due to be out by 2025. Not sure what will replace it.

My last two ships in the RN were type 23's. The one pictured is HMS MONTROSE. (I had HMS IRON DUKE and then HMS NORTHUMBERLAND.)

When they came to the Fleet they were known as "Skoda Frigates" because they kept falling apart.

Mind you they are still going, much better than the type 45 Destroyers.

As to Oil, it will always be needed - as lubricant on Door Hinges!

I don't like it but we all be "Electric" far sooner than I thought 2 or 3 years ago.

The same as coal, oil is as important to our way of life as there are thousands of every day products derived from coal and oil.

And those same products can be derived from recycled plastic, natural gas, Co2 from the atmosphere, wood and biomass so no coal and oil are not essential they are just cheaper to use

Lorries and ships can run on natural gas and there are many out there already doing so

The only mode of transport which is more difficult to switch to biofuels or synthetic are aircraft and I believe much research is going on in that direction

That pit would never have gone there was water everywhere. If it had have gone Jesus the amount of coal under there was out of this world, it could have lasted well over 100 years.

I couldn't believe that they built the pit there. Why didn't they just continue from Cotgrave?

Ditto "superpit" like Daw Mill

I had a delivery to Joy Mining Worcester and the face chocks were there.......about 20 feet tall

Daw Mill took 12 feet from the top lever out then 12 feet lower levl on retreat...

Our pit had a 36" seam............
