but Heathrow hasn't been targeted by the media

basically the airports were too quick to get rid of staff and slash their wage bill and they can't re-hire as easily

In hindsight yes, but at the time the airport operators didn't think things would get back to normal for years, and over two years on they still aren't back to anywhere near 100%.

Gatwick has only just re-opened the South Terminal.
