I understand the bitter rivalry between the clubs but that is just sick

you can't park there sir

A lorry driver who fell asleep at the wheel woke up in a field next to a motorway.

Wiltshire Police said the lorry had been in cruise control and the driver fell into the footwell when he fell asleep, as he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The vehicle was found on the farmland between junctions 16 and 17 of the M4.

Having "somehow" escaped injury, the driver was given an on-the-spot penalty, police added.

one very lucky driver !

Brighton: Motorcyclist carries mattress in Western Road

Image

A motorcyclist has been spotted riding through the city centre with a mattress on the back.

Passersby watched in astonishment as the person drove along Western Road in Brighton, near Preston Street, with a double mattress wedged in behind them.

The motorcyle had an "L" plate - indicating the rider holds a provisional licence.

Rebecca Guy, road safety manager for England at the The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, said: "All riders must ensure that their bike is loaded safely. It is illegal and dangerous to drive a vehicle that is overloaded or has an insecure load.

"As the rider you are responsible for ensuring that any load you carry is legal and safe, even if it was loaded by another person."

A picture of the overwhelmed moped was posted on local Facebook group Brighton People.

One commenter said: "It’s amazing what you can order on Deliveroo these days. Good job it wasn’t a king size. "

Driving with dangerous loads can result in fines or points on your driving licence.

Indeed.

It has been increasingly common for some taxi/PH drivers to sleep in their cars at night but this has got to be a first for a moped delivery driver. 8-[

More evidence of just how ridiculous TFL's mindset is

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66119218

A poster for a West End play featuring a wedding cake was banned by Transport for London (TfL) because it was seen to promote "foods high in fat, salt and sugar".

The ad for Tony n' Tina's Wedding, a dinner show at Wonderville, Haymarket, featured a three-tier sponge cake.

The team spent £20,000 on the posters to go on London's transport network.

A TfL spokesperson said: "We are always happy to work with brands to help them follow our advertising policy."

The interactive show is set at an Italian-American wedding, with a three-course meal, live music and dancing.

Producer Paul Gregg told BBC London they could not run the posters after they delivered them to TfL.

Image

The revised poster, right, depicted wedding guests instead
"They said 'you can't put these up, they've got cake on'," he said. "It was a bit of a surprise... the poster was designed at great expense to begin with."

His team spent a week creating the new design, costing an additional £5,000.

TfL said it refused to run 20 adverts displaying foods and non alcoholic drinks that were high in fat, sugar or salt, in the year 2021/22.

A TfL spokesperson added: "We welcome all advertising on our network that complies with our published guidance."

I look at that poster and I don't see "unhealthy" I see the cake as a metaphor

I am going to have Coffee with 16 sugars in it (I won't stir it, I don't like it sweet), with a big slice of Lardy Cake in a minute.

Perhaps a slice of metaphor instead.

it seems that almost any sporting event is a target even non league football !

not sure what they are protesting about but doubt this'll make the front page !

A Gateshead FC match has been called off in chaos after a funeral hearse and a car were driven onto the pitch.

The National League club's friendly against Dunston was abandoned at half-time amid extraordinary scenes which stunned watching supporters.

Footage posted on social media showed the vehicles being driven in circles in the centre of the pitch.

Two men - who witnesses said were masked - then climbed out of the hearse and into the car and left the ground.

Gateshead fan Archie told the BBC the intruders "apparently barged through the gate from the car park" then broke through the railings along the edge of the pitch.

He said posters were thrown out of the car's window in an apparent protest before "two people in ski masks" jumped out of the hearse and into the silver car and drove off.

'Terrifying'
Matty Hewitt, a football writer at the Newcastle Chronicle, said Northern Premier League club Dunston's UTC Stadium was evacuated as a police helicopter circled overhead following the incident.

"Two cars driven onto the pitch with masked men getting out and leaving a hearse on the pitch," he tweeted, describing it as a "terrifying experience with plenty of children about".

Gateshead FC said: "Due to an incident on the pitch occurring shortly after half time, tonight's match has been abandoned by the referee."

Northumbria Police said no-one was reported to have been injured or threatened and they had launched an investigation.

A spokesman said: "Disorder will not be tolerated in the community and anyone found to be involved will be dealt with robustly.

"While inquiries are at an early stage, it is believed that those involved are known to each other and there was no wider risk to the public.

"We are also aware that images and videos of the disturbance are being circulated on social media.

"Members of the public are urged not to speculate and are encouraged to share any footage with police to assist the investigation.

"Police remain in the area to carry out inquiries and offer reassurance to the public and those with concerns are encouraged to speak with an officer on duty."

The leaflets are calling for a close associate of a convicted paedophile (former football coach) to be sacked by the club because aparently being a close friend of the convicted man means he must be guilty also !

how on earth did they manage to do that ! https://www.stamfordmercury.co.uk/news/crash-in-mcdonald-s-drive-thru-9323067/

Image

A car crashed at a McDonald’s and blocked the fast food restaurant’s drive thru.

People in Stamford wanting a Big Mac or Happy Meal without having to leave the comfort of their car were forced to rethink their plans on Sunday afternoon (July 23).

A customer at the McDonald’s branch in Ryhall Road had mounted the kerb and crashed their car into the drive thru and pedestrian crossing signs.

for starters the car is facing the wrong way  to come out of a parking bay that way would have involved mounting and crossing the pavement and then a sharp turn surely it was too busy for the car to have gone all the way round the wrong way it usually is.

More than likely eating the food out of the bag and not concentrating on what's in front of you.
