| Post subject: | Uber Southampton |
So if I was a Southampton licensed Uber, how far out of Southampton would I be able to work? Winchester ? Newbury ? But remember they have a geo fence zone in place ? I’d be interested in any answers |

Well according to this Southampton is in Uber's South East region, which includes Southampton, Brighton and Portsmouth. https://www.uber.com/en-GB/blog/changes ... ive-trips/ But it says these are simply the 'major cities' within the region, so what else it encompasses and where precisely the boundaries begin and end isn't clear. But clearly quite a big area. |

You guys are forgetting the geo fence, supposedly it doesn’t work after you get to Newbury coming up the A34, somehow they operate outside of the Uber stated Geo Fence area. It does amaze me how Uber type customers are happy going with someone who doesn’t know where he’s going totally reliant on the GPS |

When they pay £30+, for a job that a local hackney will do for under £10, it doesn't surprise me one jot that they are prepared to be sat naved everywhere. |

Basically we have Uber Southampton working up here outside the geo fence zone. From what I understand it’s not supposed to be possible, yet here they are and no one can figure out how ? |

My post earlier was all about the geofence, so hadn't forgotten about it, just didn't use that precise term. But your first post seems to suggest you don't know where the geofence boundaries begin and end (which was what I essentially said in my post), yet you now seem to be sure it doesn't encompass where you work. Do you know precisely where the boundaries are? Maybe Uber has shifted them? |

What one has to bear in mind is these so called geo zones are internal Uber policies that they can amend as they please. Uber doesn't follow rules, never has never will. Surprised anyone is surprised. |
