Dear Contracors
I am aware that some of you are worried about the impact of Coronavirus on your business and particularly whether you will continue to get paid if a school or day centre decides to close or deny access to some of their students / clients.
Our Conditions of Contract state that if for any unforeseeable reason a School, College or Social Services establishment is closed so that it becomes unnecessary to provide transport on any day when the Contract would normally operate, the Council will pay the full Contract Price for a period of up to one week. Should the unforeseen closure of a School, College or Social Services establishment exceed one week in length, the Council will pay 50% of the Contract Price for a period of up to three calendar months.
However, due to the nature of this particular unforeseen event and the wider impact on businesses and individuals, we have decided that we will continue to pay your contract costs for as long as the establishment is closed but for a closure of more than 2 weeks we would expect to see a discount in the daily cost due to the fuel saved by not operating.
I hope this helps to alleviate concerns about payments, and makes clear our current position on contract obligations, but please contact us if you need any further clarification.
Regards
I bet the bases wont pass on the money to owner drivers doing contracts tho
