mine was £1100, adding £10m PL, protected excess, NCB and breakdown made it £1300
I've been with Paton's for a few years now. Normally just the basic policy.
Currently £819 with Sabre. Last policy was £781 with Liverpool Victoria, who had covered me for a couple of years previously.
But to be honest I doubt if there's much to be saved by shopping around all over the place. Suspect most of the brokers include much the same panel of insurers, so any savings probably minimal, if at all.
Suspect likes of me and Skippy's areas regarded as low risk, so that's probably a factor.
Also, haven't you a few medical conditions that might affect your premium?
Car was brand new when I bought it, but is six years old now, so obviously worth a lot less, but when I've asked about that in the past they've always said it's not really a factor.
Someone mentioned something else recently on here that I'd never really thought of before as a factor, but I can't remember what it is now
Never really thought about the age thing, as suggested by Heathcote, but I'm still the right side of 60, and I very much doubt if age is a factor before then. In fact I'd have guessed more like 70 until it made any significant difference to the premium, but think I'll ask about that when I'm renewing at the end of August
(Although obviously age is a major factor for the very
youngest drivers.)
