Add the above to my previous post.

Wife picked up 3 extra shifts at graft. Used to do 2 half shifts

Son still at school when she works.

I am still getting in my car from 7-4 mon to fri. Like I always have.

Earnings have just over halved. But it will get worse. I can scrape along and get by just about on £40 a day before I have to tuck into savings.

So if I earn more. It will be put towards the following week etc etc.

Then once one of us three healthy family members get the flue. We will isolate then repeat until I am no longer grounded.

I’m just so glad that I am tighter than a ducks arse and have funds for possible off road issues.

I'd be fine with halved takings. Work a couple more hours a day, tighten the belt a bit. And after the dead winter months, the January tax bill and the MoT and taxi test at this time of year, this is normally the time when I start to build up a bit of cash again, so don't really need to make much at this time to struggle by.

But problem is that the rank work that I normally depend on has effectively disappeared. And the offices have either closed, or have a couple of drivers working to cover what little work is coming in.

But the Government's grant will probably see me through, but I'm worried about how long this will all take, and can't really see things getting back to normal for a year at least.

Tons of useful stuff I could be doing, and trying to look upon it all as an opportunity to do stuff I've been putting off for years.

But already I'm fearing that I'll spend weeks sitting around doing nothing particularly constructive

you need a reasonable size Garden for that G scale is mostly generic American stuff O is a bit more expensive but you can buy most locos and coaches of the big 4 or Br days

When I finally am able to retire I hope to build a double o garden railway with the ability to run full length trains but set mostly in the 1970's

yeah... downgraded ambition to O gauge, small garden, shared with dogs so need to be inventive

found 1 with Beyer Garratt locos

Though on a pure cost comparison OO is hard to turn down
