Locally we have a card shop that is open.
Not sure that's essential.
But I have sympathy with them and all the shops mentioned above, as they need to earn a living.

How is it that going out to collect a takeaway meal, going to the pub to pick up your Sunday lunch or even going to a sweet shop to collect sweets are classed as essential? These are some of the businesses that are open around here. I know that the people who run one of the Indian restaurants in town travel here from Birmingham. They live in different households but travel together in one vehicle, so much for social distancing. In my opinion these businesses should be closed because I can't see how they are essential. |

the figures are not coming down so i think lock down will tighten next week so maybe they will be closed I think what the government were doing is trying to leave as much of the economy operational as they could I don't suppose it has occurred to them that restaurant workers don't live nearby to their place of work |

They seemed to ignore the fact that they come from different households and travel together and a sweet shop FFS. |

I have sympathy with people needing to earn a living but I don't have sympathy with people who are looking for loopholes to do so. The more of this that goes on the longer it will take to reach the end. I think it has been a mistake to try and let certain businesses keep trading. There are government schemes to help them through this difficult time. none of these businesses will have to pay business rates for the whole of this year, most if not all will be eligible for the £10,000 grant, most of them could furlough their staff instead of having them work reduced hours so that they get less than 80% of their wages. |

I agree, but we have two issues here. Is a takeaway allowed to be opened for business - yes. Are people allowed to travel together to go to work - yes. |

A take away may be allowed to be open but I think it should be deliveries only, how can it be essential travel to go and pick one up? People from separate households are not supposed to be meeting (social distancing) so how is it permitted for them to travel in the same vehicle? |

If that is the case I wonder why McDonalds and KFC decided to close? I wonder why all the sandwich shops decided to close? In Spain where my 94 year old father lives one of the cafe's would take him and some other older people a hot meal every night. This is no longer allowed. The sooner that this is properly locked down over here the better. |

Unless I get told not to do so. I will not question why you are entering into a contractual agreement with me as a driver, to take you to your desired destination. I am not the police. I am not here to shake my finger at you and tell you you’re naughty. I will pipe up if you are abusing me, a child or lady passenger with you. If you swear at a child or treat my car or me with disrespect. You pay the meter price. No negotiation possible. Unless you openly state prior to the journey that you might be a bit short. (That to me is honesty) I can’t go round issuing fines or arguing with punters. Most of my customers are regulars in the community I work. If a takeaway or sweet shop or card shop. Or two people laying on the field is wrong. Then let the people employed to fine them tell them. Not me. That’s what I pay my taxes for. |
