there is a ripple effect coming from Leicester.

Rutland has had it's first new case in over a month and we have had 5 new in 2 weeks.

Quite possibly one family.

Even with the spike in Leicester the ONS say the rate of infection in the community has gone down from 0.06% of the population to 0.04%.

Just had a look at your local stats and the death rate is half the five year average.

I have been looking at the data regulaly but according to the map there are very few new cases shown for Leicester and the surrounding area compared to what is being said on the TV. Last week there were a total of 77 cases in melton but this went down to 76 and then back up to 77. Somehow I am not convinced by this data anymore.

I think the best real data, if best is the best word, is the actual death rate, and clearly and thankfully that has been falling week by week.

Now some of that might be down to doctors much more aware of what to do and what not to do, but most of it is IMO down to a drastic reduction in new infections.

Huge jump in the figures today  must have been a major update

Rutland now listed at 90 cases up 54

Melton at 149 up 72

SKDC at 395 up 213

leicester at 3850

Peterborough at 1263

and South Holland (little Estonia) up to 695

so looks like this site was using old data

Melton is still in the lowest 10 places for infections in England but Rutland is no longer the lowest.

They added an extra pillar of tests to all areas that hadn't been added over the last months or so.

If anyone wants the up to date numbers for their area this Gov.UK site is quite good.

https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/

Rutland's last case was 30/06/20.

Melton had a case on the 30/06 a case on the 01/07 and a case on the 03/07.

IMO neither of those areas have anything to worry about.

I suspect that one was a family member of one of the previous cases, so no real reason for concern.

Oh dear here we go 5 new cases in SKDC and 5 in Rutland in a week plus over 30 in Peterborough.

Here comes the peak ! I hate to say it but locally it's worse than in lockdown !

But i think that's what the government wants is for us all to catch it and get the herd immunity
