The County Council’s Cabinet have approved additional budget in order that we can provide a temporary increase to contract prices to help mitigate the additional costs of cleaning and sanitiser.

An additional amount per day per contract will be awarded based upon:

The number of contracts held by your company on 14th September 2020.
The number of passengers allocated to each route – this is a proxy for vehicle size.
The rates per day have been set as follows:

Up to 5 passengers: £2 per day
6 to 8 passengers: £4 per day
9 to 16 passengers: £5 per day
17 to 40 passengers: £10 per day
41 or more passengers: £15 per day.

This represents an investment in cleaning of over £3,000 per day across all of our routes and contractors. We recognise that individual contractor’s cleaning costs may vary. Unfortunately due to limited financial and staff resources, we cannot offer any variation to these rates on a case by case basis and would appreciate your understanding in this regard.

Please note that this additional payment is subject to the following conditions:

We will provide each operator with a notification of the amount per day that can be charged which covers all contracts held.
A schedule will be provided of the number of days that can be claimed each calendar month – this will add up to 190 days for the academic year.
The amount will not be changed as additional contracts are taken on – it is assumed that operators bidding for new contracts are including all necessary costs within their pricing.
We will advise operators on any changes to their daily rate for cleaning should their number of contracts decrease.
Additional payments will cease if the government changes its guidance such that additional cleaning / sanitiser is no longer required. In this instance we will notify operators of the end date of these payments.
Cleaning costs will be charged on your monthly invoice – separate invoices will not be accepted.
No reimbursement will be made or considered for cleaning costs prior to September 2020.

17 to 40 passengers: £10 per day
41 or more passengers: £15 per day.

Imagine getting £75/week for 41 kids, then 1 leaves

You lose £25/week x 39 school weeks per year...£975 down...

There are not 39 school weeks in a year.
It is actually 190 days and that includes inset days where pupils don't go to school.
Not forgetting that this is probably the only Council making this kind of payment so any payment is a bonus.
