received this email today from dotted (not a spoof)

There is a UK organisation formed to oppose Uber called CAUTION (campaign against unlawful taxis in our nation)

Believe it or not, as you can see in their company house listing, Safa Alkateb, CEO of Autocab Ltd, is an Active Director of this Company https://bit.ly/3m3oZkL

It is beyond us how as part of CAUTION, Safa could one day tell us all that Uber is "Rotten to the Core" and then the next tell us we should trust them

To flag massive concerns on Uber’s data breaches, to now reassure you that your business critical data is safe in Uber/Autocab’s hands

To talk about a company having tracked users phones, failing to report criminal offences and bribery, and to then decide to allow this company to become the private hire industries largest dispatch provider? This is unfathomable

Our belief is that with Autocab being in serious financial decline, perhaps understandably a big bag of cash being put on the table clouded their moral judgement, but regardless it's not right for the industry, competition or the end passenger

For anyone that’s bought into the BS and are considering doing Uber work from Autocab, I ask you to wake up and smell the coffee. You have the power to put a stop to this, It is time for you to unite.

I will continue to fight for this industry, will you stand with me?

The attached CAUTION report is a must see for anyone in the industry, the link is below.

The link doesn't seem to copy but I could download a report offering reasoned argument to Brighton & Hove council against Ubers application there.

I assume that he was a director before Ubers takeover of Autocab but is he still a director?

Interesting.

The CAMPAIGN AGAINST UNLAWFUL TAXIS IN OUR NATION LIMITED page at Companies House lists David Wilson as secretary, and several other PH bigwigs as directors.

https://find-and-update.company-informa ... 3/officers

I assume that David Wilson is the licensing consultant, aka Mr Cross-Border, who's most recently been featured arguing the case for the firm deemed not fit and proper by York City Council, primarily because of its cross-border activities.

Another director is Mr Ian Shanks, presumably of Blueline on Tyneside. Another cross-border enthusiast.

Another one is Alexander Felce, listed as a director of Dean Taxis, also on Tyneside. And also, as I recall it, involved in very messy cross-border stuff :-o

So presumably they at least won't have any objection to Uber's cross-border activities.

In fact, maybe that's why CAUTION Ltd seems to have been keeping quite a low profile - I'd certainly never heard of it :-$

I see that under the heading 'Rotten to the core', CAUTION have highlighted Uber's difficulties with the 'Driver employment status' issue.

Do they really want to go there? :-o

Clearly Autocab were against Uber.

But a waggon load of cash changed their views.
