I know this site is primarily for working taxi drivers, so please forgive this intrusion. I'm wondering if anyone with a long memory can recall the Bell Punch Farometer dash-mounted mechanical meter? I'm wondering if anyone can tell me anything at all about it?

Just had to google it to remind me what they were.

I suspect they might still be used on some of the vintage (not licensed) vehicles, but in my 30 years in the trade I've only ever seen digital meters.

That said I've seen some similar meters being used in Kolkata as recently as 4 years ago.

Pitts taximeters in Nottingham have quite a collection of old mechanical meters. Maybe they would have some information.

Yes, it was my very first meter in an old Austin Ambassador.

Yes, I had heard. His son was already running the business before Peter died.
