Hello,

I am not a cab driver but am trying to trace a man named David Burt who owned or operated a cab firm in the South East.

This is a legal matter. He isn't in any trouble but he may be able to help someone who is.

Thanks

well a quick google search came up with Downsview taxi services Redhill although it is probably a common name so might not be him.

My question is if I could find that so easily how come the post originator couldn't ?

Maybe the fella wants info on where he is now, not necessarily where he was once.

Hi,

I found that one but it doesn't seem right. The name is very common. I'm not entirely sure where he or his cab office would be but one of his drivers would have taken someone to Dover in 1996.

I don't want to give out too much information at present but feel free to contact me direct.

Maybe put an email out where anyone could contact you.

Lots of people read the site who haven't registered.

It's a common name, but I'm guessing that if there was evidence available online then it wouldn't be that hard to find using Google, but there's nothing obvious coming up searching for the name and taxi.

Do you have any more specific information as regards the location? Maybe you could FOI licensing councils in the area. Not sure how many that would be, but there's currently twelve licensing authorities listed under Kent alone.

Of course, I'm not sure if they'd respond to such a request, but I think names and addresses of licencees should be in the public domain via the licensing register, so to that degree maybe they'd respond to an FOI?

And any address or trading name or whatever they might provide would very probably be out of date, but it might at least provide some clues :?

I think roythebus who contributes on here on a fairly regular basis (although not for a month now) is maybe from the Folkestone and Hythe District Council area (which neighbours Dover District Council), so maybe you could try sending him a private message.

He's been in the game (or the bus game) a while and knows the scene down that way, so although it's a long shot, of the contributors on here he's possibly the one most likely to know.

This is his profile - if you send him a PM it should send him an email notification, I think:

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=3764

Another possibility (if you haven't done so already) is to Google cab offices in the area you think he was most likely from and ask them if they've heard of him. There's usually a handful of major players in each town or city, so if you could narrow it down then it might not be that difficult to send out a few emails to them via their websites.
