I think this has been started by the PHTM people but has been brought to my attention and I think there is no reason why members on here shouldn't be signing this https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/573116 so 1048 signatures so far and 10000 needed to get the governments attention so 10% of the way and feel free to bring it to the attention of folk not on here |

I've signed this. However I've never seen one of these trade petitions ever succeed. Which sums up the difficulty those representing the trade have in representing the trade.

But I wonder why the Wirral PHD 'of six years' wasn't eligible for SEISS? It's made to sound like he's not eligible because of his savings, but I can't see how that's at all relevant. Quote: "I have not had any financial assistance such as the SEISS grants [Self-Employment Income Support Scheme], basically being told to use what we have saved for retirement - and stuff the future."

One of my drivers is pushing this really hard because her partner who is also a taxi driver (but only takes on long distance work so got nothing coming in at the moment) he has been self employed for over 30 years BUT because he and his father jointly own some rental properties he was disqualified because his taxi earnings were under the qualifying percentage despite the fact that their biggest tenant; a shop below the two flats refused to pay anything so in actual fact he has had almost zero income there will be a reason that wirral driver got nothing

despite best intentions there are loads of businesses who are getting grants that perhaps aren't critically damaged by the pandemic at the same time loads are still falling through the cracks and I think that needs addressing I do not think councils have the slightest idea about how little drivers are earning

Lets put it this way, were your costs down by not turning a wheel? The ARG is nationwide, ask if your area hasnt offered it https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-yo ... ions-grant Try SKDC and Lincolnshire |

Quote: Additional Restrictions Grants Additional restrictions grants - apply now Lifeline grants of £7,500 are on offer to small and micro businesses that have lost income due to the national restrictions. Businesses based locally that meet the criteria, can now apply for an Additional Restrictions Grant. While the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG), which was launched locally last week, is for businesses that have been required to close due to the national restrictions, the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) is to support businesses that have had their trade affected by restrictions. As part of the scheme, the council is offering one-off grants of £7,500 for micro and small businesses that are: involved in the direct supply chain for businesses/sectors which have had to close due to local or national restrictions, able to show trade with closed businesses is a significant proportion of their income. trading from a commercial premises which is a local franchise and the parent company has previously received a coronavirus grant. involved in the events, arts or entertainment sectors. involved in the rural/agriculture sector. Companies must not be in administration, insolvent or where a striking-off notice has been given. Companies must have seen a loss of income of more than 30%, compared to the same period last year. Businesses that haven’t received support from the Local Restrictions Support Grant. Councillor Liz Little, Cabinet Member Responsible for Economic Development, said: “I am really pleased we’ve opened the application process for the latest round of Government grants. I am sure it will be very much welcomed by our local businesses that have been significantly impacted by the pandemic. “While the majority of this pot of funding will go towards the grants, we will also use some of the funding to deliver training to businesses and to support start-ups enterprises.” Lichfield and Stafford city for 2 at least |
