I recall similar sort of things being said about the premier league. the difference being that the premier league was the FA trying to grab all the money.

Parts of me, the majority, thinks it's a good thing that they will f*** off. But I suspect a deal will get done and they will get yet more cash. But a lot of damage has been done by this.

I hope the threatened sanctions make them think again but it is purely and simply a few big clubs trying to cream off the biggest slice of revenue in order to pay ever increasingly stupid money to the top "talent" The total lack of any relegation or promotion effectively locks the rest out and may ultimately be self defeating as there will be little incentive to avoid finishing last

The domestic football league had always been the domain of the Football league and the FA did not have much to do with the actual running of the league. All the FA did was sanction the league and register the players. The FA ran their own cup competitions. The Premier league was all about the FA taking a bigger slice out of the cake. This new "super euro league" is not intended to interfere with the domestic leagues but to take the so called euro elite out of the control of EUFA and the individual countries football associations and thus take that money away from the ruling body. As things stand all domestic football, and that includes your local Sunday league, kids football and 5 a side or six a side leagues, must be sanctioned by the FA and all match officials must be licensed with the FA. The FA is affiliated to EUFA and they are affiliated to FIFA. A very neat gentleman's club that, as we know, is sometimes accused of being corrupt. This new super euro league would not be able to run in the usual way without the sanction of EUFA and if it is not sanctioned then any player or official taking part will automatically be barred from taking part in any sanctioned competition. I think UEFA rather messed things up when they expanded the European cup to form the Champions League. When it went from just the team that won the top division in a country to include many more teams it kind of devalued the competition for some people all in the name of making more money for EUFA and the elite teams but the elite teams are now having to share the pot further and they don't like it. The other analogy that this is similar to is the Kerry Packer cricket circus that saw many top players banned from the test teams etc. Until the World cricket association changed things to what we are getting now. I think that is is likely that a new format for the champions league will eventually come out of this and it will get sanctioned by EUFA and everyone will be friends again but it may well meant that these clubs do end up getting banned from domestic competitions before it happens and the casualties will be the players who end up missing out on representing their country in the name of money. I hope they can sort it out before it comes to that.

These six clubs in all probability were the clubs who objected to the premier league to the Newcastle United takeover which was consequently stopped. The only reason of their objection was most probably the mega bucks that would have been pumped into Newcastle. They are parasites and should not be allowed to run clubs.

from what I understand there is a strong American influence in this and it is aimed more at the Asian market than local markets so it is more about Brands than competition The thing I wonder though is will the players be happy with just the league and no Champions league, FA cup or lesser winners medals in prospect ?

So the Premiership which has relegation and top tier teams, replaced League 1 which had relegation and top tier teams.
