This sort of thing happens at loads of schools. I am supposed to drop my student off at 08.45 but they can't get out of the car until a teacher signals for them to get out. Most mornings the teacher does not appear until 09.50 or later by which time students are getting restless. because of the layout of the drop off zone it can take 15 minutes to unload all the student from the cars. The same happens in the afternoon. pick up is at 15.00 but it can be 15.20 before the last car can get to the pick up point. We do not get any extra for the waiting time.

at 1 school about 18 vehicles (inc 6 lwb minibuses) had to drop in a 7 bay car park, cars had to wait down the road on footpaths, going in in 3 waves

3pm pickup, we often were still outside at 3.25

Guess I'm very lucky, I'm the only contracted vehicle setting down and picking kids from the local school and there's loads of spare parking in the school yard....it's a very relaxed affair.

But what are drivers to do?

This should be batted back to the school and the council and they should give the answers.

If they want X amount of kids to get into X amount of taxi/PH, then they should have some sort of transport/safety plan.

school hasnt a clue

firstly the drive narrows to 1 car width, it could easily be widened a fraction

the main road outside is a 60mph, its deadly trying to get out (ive had 1 near miss)

on site cars wont use the bays (marked off at a cost of £3000)

staff have no control over the kids who run between the moving cars

96 kids, at least 80 cars....
