But if punters want to wear them, and even if they would prefer me to wear one, then I'm quite happy to go along with their requests.
I have never worn a mask whilst working, there has never been a mandatory rule for TAXI drivers to wear them.
So never have, never will.
I think the Government did add taxis to the list of mandatory places to wear a mask.
Coronavirus (COVID-19): taxis and PHVs - GOV.UK
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus ... s-and-phvs18/11/2020 · In the vehicle Passengers must wear a face covering in a taxi or PHV, unless they are exempt. You can refuse to take a passenger if they are not wearing a face covering.
But from Monday 19th there is no mandatory requirement to wear face masks anywhere. The aerie Farie nonsense is going to cause no end of trouble. It will put in the shade the divide between remoaners and brexiteers. The sanctimonious face masks for ever brigade v the “libertarian “ bonfire of the pettyfogging pointless rule of six, two metre, don’t touch your granny with a barge pole divisions who want some kind of normalcy, ffs, it’ll end in tears, fights, kicked in doors.
Anyway, “shall not unreasonably refuse to carry” is it reasonable to refuse to carry a passenger because they will not mask up, when there will be no legal requirement to do so? Oh, the joy of a purpose built iconic taxi, so no need for me to worry. And I have not had a single passenger ask me to put on a face covering. And I have worked all through the last 18 months. And I have never been as busy as I am right now, so will not be claiming Siess 5.
