So. From July 19th, mask wearing will not be compulsory. Ditch the mask. Hallelujah! As some wag shouted out in parliament the other day. Me, can’t wait. Of course, some will demand that they should be worn. Not me. If a shop or pub or any other business, demands that I mask up, I will walk away. Hospital and health centres, care homes, etc. As requested, are I suppose are a different matter. Your views? |

we are leaving it up to the individual driver to decide but at least 1 of drivers wants to continue asking customers to wear them |

Our drivers have said that they will continue to wear the mask. We will advise customers that we would prefer them to wear a mask but we don't intend to make a big issue out of it. |

We were always going to be behind England in opening up and relaxing the rules, but with infection numbers going through the roof here Nicola's panicking and I can't see the rules on masks being relaxed here for several months yet, if at all this year. Personally, if I was down south I'd not be as libertarian in approach as Jimbo, but I'd not be a mask-wearing zealot either. So I'd go with the flow, and see how mask-wearing trends went on the ranks and in supermarkets etc, and behave accordingly

Think I will be mask less, and removed my screen about 4 weeks ago. But if punters want to wear them, and even if they would prefer me to wear one, then I'm quite happy to go along with their requests. |

I have never worn a mask whilst working, there has never been a mandatory rule for TAXI drivers to wear them. So never have, never will. |

I think the Government did add taxis to the list of mandatory places to wear a mask. Coronavirus (COVID-19): taxis and PHVs - GOV.UK https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus ... s-and-phvs 18/11/2020 · In the vehicle Passengers must wear a face covering in a taxi or PHV, unless they are exempt. You can refuse to take a passenger if they are not wearing a face covering. |

You can refuse to take a passenger if they are not wearing a face covering. But from Monday 19th there is no mandatory requirement to wear face masks anywhere. The aerie Farie nonsense is going to cause no end of trouble. It will put in the shade the divide between remoaners and brexiteers. The sanctimonious face masks for ever brigade v the “libertarian “ bonfire of the pettyfogging pointless rule of six, two metre, don’t touch your granny with a barge pole divisions who want some kind of normalcy, ffs, it’ll end in tears, fights, kicked in doors. Anyway, “shall not unreasonably refuse to carry” is it reasonable to refuse to carry a passenger because they will not mask up, when there will be no legal requirement to do so? Oh, the joy of a purpose built iconic taxi, so no need for me to worry. And I have not had a single passenger ask me to put on a face covering. And I have worked all through the last 18 months. And I have never been as busy as I am right now, so will not be claiming Siess 5. |

As I said, will go with the flow when masks aren't compulsory, but one factor that could be important is the possibility that people might walk past on the rank if the driver in pole isn't wearing a mask. Fine if you just have to wait another few minutes for a job, but here it could easily be a case of waiting an hour on the rank, then someone walking past, then having to wait *another* hour for a run, or maybe ending up not getting a run at all if it's later at night, all because you weren't wearing a mask On the other hand, I doubt if anyone would walk past because the driver *was* wearing a mask, but you never know that either
