With it being bank holiday, does the fares go up or stay the same for P/H work ?

Our cash fares go up 50%. Account work stays the same.

I can't believe that.

The most the firms charge down here is an extra £1.

I don't know how you sleep at night.

What?

And take people into work who are on double time and a day in lieu! and only charge them a quid extra? no wonder the trade is looked upon as a job for no-marks!!

Ideally, you should have a day rate (T1) usually operates between say 6am - midnight. Then a night rate (T2) which covers midnight to 6 am, and bank holidays, this will usually be anything from 25 - 50 % surcharge above (T1). Then a Xmas rate (T3) which should cover Xmas and New Year, usually, twice the cost of (T1)

There are many variations on this theme, some depending on local customs and established practises.

The Irish are looking at a national fare structure, and they have done a very detailed study (though I can't find it at the moment)

Question: Should we have a national fare structure based on the PCO taxi cost index?

I think according to PHM's list the two mile fares go from £6.00 to £2.80. ](*,)

So 100% difference is a fair bit.

But it could also be argued, that a lot of PHV work is won by undercutting Hack fares.

I know that some PHV charge more, but if Cabs & cars charged the same nationally, well that would liven it up a bit.

It could also be argued that a lot of taxi chaps undercut hack fares.

In london we don't charge any extra for bank holiday's, I wished the PCO would issue us with a meter and regulate our fare's, that way night's/weekend's/bank holiday's we might get extra.
The only problem is, you can't put a meter in a london PHV when half the driver's don't know where they are going!!!!!!

Ohh, before you start GBC, I wished there was a knowledge test for PHV's but there isn't, although they are starting to do them soon. :D
