Last Saturday was our local market fatstock show and produce show. After the judging has taken place the produce is auctioned off in support of the Mayors (me) charity. The supreme champion stilton cheese which was actually 2 cheeses and these were cut into half stiltons. 1 half stilton was held back and auctioned at the market yesterday. It sold for a world record for a half stilton of £2,200 The total raised from the auction is likely to be in excess of £5,000.
My charity will be pleased.

Not a massive fan of cheese, nor for that matter a fan of whisky.

But I will never forget seeing a bottle of whisky in Dubai airport duty-free on sale for £27,000.

I think it was a 50 year old Glenfiddich.

In the days of yore when i used to manage off licenses usually it was the vintage Macallan that was the highest priced whisky in the shop but I must admit that I never came across vintage Glenfiddich so perhaps it is a rare beast hence the high price

One of the best films I saw this year was called “ The Angel’s Share” as you can guess, it’s about whiskey. It’s about ten years old but is very funny.
