Anyone else out there with a general feeling of foreboding as to where we as a nation are going with this? Although we were told by the government there would be no going back, we are going back. Cancelled gatherings, covid passports, face muzzles, to shut us up, etc, etc. Plan B, soon to be plan C, or D,E…. Heading for lockdown with no furlough safety net? Probably.

Merry Xmas by the way.

Omicron, if you get it, a bit of a runny nose, they say. Madness engulfs the nation as some applaud stricter measures, especially the ones who get paid whether or not they work.

I am sure that you saying it is a bit of a runny nose will be of comfort to those that get it.

I’m repeating what some scientists are saying, not offering an expert opinion.

We should have learnt by now that non-pharmaceutical interventions don’t work.

General consensus from those studying what’s happening in South Africa is that this variant is much more spreadable but a lot less deadly.

Which means we will have a rather nasty few weeks ahead of us, maybe a nasty few months.

Whilst for most it will be a runny nose, for a lot of the vulnerable it could be a lot worse as they have much more of a chance of catching it.

If you are a glass half full chap, like me, this variant could be the end of the pandemic as it could bring the world ‘herd immunity’, finally getting us all get back to living our lives as we did in 2019.

Whilst I believe the horse had well and truly bolted before the new measures came in we are in danger of getting too complacent

1) you can still die of this
2) you can still accidentally kill your relatives passing it on to them
3) screen or no screen any hackney or PH driver can still catch it
4) catching it through complacency still means isolation and no moolah just as it's getting busy

A rare thing but I agree with you.

Indeed, but so is the common cold, and thankfully that doesn't kill too many folks.
