Any Councils allowing a fuel surcharge to be added to metered fare tariff?

Dear Operator,

Update on Exceptional Price Increase & Next Steps

We have now completed the process of notifying all operators of their contract prices applicable from 1st May 2022.

Please could all operators hold on sending their May 2022 invoices to us until Monday 6th June onwards – you can date your May invoice in the normal way and payment will not be delayed. In the meantime we are putting in place the necessary preparations for March/April back payments.

A number of operators have not sent us their April 2022 invoices. If you have not yet sent an April invoice, please can you do so by the end of this week. The number of April 2022 invoices that have not yet been received are causing us difficulties in calculating back payments, so these need to be cleared as soon as possible.

We will write to everyone again as soon as back payment amounts have been calculated. The variation agreement referred to in previous emails and inflation letters will be sent out under separate cover, during the next couple of weeks.

In order to allow the taxi trade to make allowances for the rising cost of fuel, additional extras can be added to each journey/fare applicable depending upon the price of a litre of diesel and unleaded petrol according to the weekly road fuel prices published Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Details of the additional extras that can be applied are detailed below:

Diesel
Diesel price (per litre) - Additional extra(per journey/fare)

£1.50 or above - 30p
£1.65 or above - 60p
£1.80 or above - 90p
£1.95 or above - £1.20

Petrol
Petrol price (per litre) - Additional extra(per journey/fare)
£1.48 or above - 30p
£1.63 or above - 60p
£1.78 or above - 90p
£1.93 or above - £1.20

I do apologise, I didn’t realise you had no routes now. We are just getting a continuous stream of questions and issues at the moment.

The calculation of the March back payment amounts went a bit wrong somehow, with routes being assigned to the wrong operators in some cases. This is what happened with yours, and is the reason you weren’t sent an email with the amount, so apologies for that.

Please now invoice us for £***.** as March back payment for your route.

We have it in Plymouth. It is set to start at when Diesel is £1.50 a litre at a selected Garage, when we can add 10p as an extra. (So we've been charging for a while.) For each 10p a litre the fuel goes up we can charge another 10p. It is £1.99.9 there today so we can currently add 50p to all fares, probably tomorrow it will pass £2.00 so we will be charging 60p. It is on the Tariff.

A hackney driver asked about an increase because of the fuel and, although a few weeks ago a licensing officer said they should have an increase, the driver was told no due to the last review being last August.
