I know... I'm intruding on your forum again, but if anyone could assist, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to find out if there is a central list of taxi ranks anywhere? A portion of the traffic we are picking up from the search engines is for rank locations and it's something that no other site seems to offer, certainly not that I've seen. If it means going round each individual council and requesting lists I understand why because they have been buggers to deal with for me in the past, but I wonder if anyone in here can provide any useful resources?

Our site has come under some minor fire by individuals for being heavily weighted towards assisting the PH industry rather than the HC's and having the cheek to call it "taxi" number :? . This is not intentional and if anyone has any good ideas about what else might assist HC's I'd love to hear about it.

Kind regards
Pete Gibbs

I'm afraid that's going to be the only way.

That said if you do a standard e-mail to every council asking them for that info via the FoI act, then you should have your list of ranks within a few weeks.

The best council database site I know of is http://www.tagish.co.uk/tagish/links/localgov.htm

If people get hung up by the taxi/PH difference, then do what I do (most of the time) and tell them to go f*** themselves and get a life.

Sussex,

I was afraid that might be the answer... I have used the Freedom of Information threat before and yes it does tend to generate a response, but I think some of them deliberately drag their feet to the 28 days.

With regards to your 2nd post... tempting as it was I try to be a little more diplomatic than that :D. But if I said the name "Scottie" would that ring any bells with you? Relatively comical I thought... :)

Many thanks for the feedback... Always appreciated!

Regards
Pete

Edinburgh has their own list of Taxi ranks on their website. There is no taxi rank database kept by anyone, your only solution is to write to all of the licensing authorities you require such information.
