I've got myself a little book and I plan to write down all the regular jobs I get that pay well. So everyday I can get my book out and see what decent jobs are coming up and then I will know where to wait. Do other drivers do this ? Also do you have any other tips to share ?

why not talk to the passanger and find out if they do the same trip all the time and give them your number and they can call you when they need a cab???????not every day is the same you would be best trying to work out which areas are busy and at what times and work these areas.

both ideas have worked for me but as i say some days it works others it does not its just pot luck IMO

Only one guy has suggested that, and I expect that happens everywhere.

Or are you being a tad naive? :-k

Im sure something like this happened to me the other week:... I am waiting for one of the better jobs to come through, when suddenly a job comes through and find out it to be a no job. The bloke in position 2 gets the cushy job :x

That's reminds me of another tip, either bung the operator or start screwing her.

Well if everyone did it you'd end up with only the customers you carded, it's an issue that cant be stopped really, we've all done it at sometime or other.

But on the insurance issue,if you have your own operators licence and dont work throught the company one, then they are insured as your entitled to take your own bookings.
