popped down to the rank this morning and chatted to one or two of my ex drivers

the consensus is that trade is quiet at the moment is anyone else encountering this or are other areas busier than ever ? Normally we are one of those towns that doesn't have many empty shops but we seem to have a few at the moment with quite a few closing although more and more coffee shops seem to be opening ! Particularly as the banks are one by one closing their local branches so plenty of former banks available which is exactly where Starbucks have opened up (Nat west) and with HSBC set to close in the new year possibly another site for a coffee shop.

I went to Manchester a couple of months ago and the city centre there seemed to be as busy as ever with almost 100% shop occupancy which suggests that the big cities are doing better than small towns.

Is trade buzzing at the moment or is it a bit flat where you are ?

It's not as busy as it has been, but looking at my books November has never been that good a month.

The benefits of driver shortages are still very much apparent, it's just that punters are feeling the pinch a bit.

We’re doing ok here in Chester. But I think that’s down to the lack of cabs while drivers are doing the schools. 3-6pm seems particularly busy as drivers don’t come back after their runs.

I completely understand that.

Especially when a lot expect the same rates.

Life is too short.

Leave it to the foolish and the desperate.
