The thing is car manufacturers are struggling to sell EV's so what better than skyrocketing diesel and petrol prices to boost sales

don't forget all those people who are making billions from oil and gas have big investments in "future technology"

can anyone fathom why diesel has gone up 12p a litre in the last 2 weeks

It seems to rise about this time of year as the demand for domestic and Commericial Heating oil increases, but It seems even more of a rise this year.

Blame Putin

Blame OPEC

but....... if our refineries were not biased to petrol we wouldnt have to import diesel OR..... blame us for switching to diesel cars enmasse (the public, not taxi drivers) and creating a massive need for diesel we dont produce

Blame HMG for selling north sea oil on the open market instead of keeping it for UK comsumption only

well it seems the saudis plans have back fired because a sharp drop in demand in the US is causing oil prices to fall

Good.

Surely at some time all these electric cars are going to affect the demand for oil.

OPEC (most of whose members are already cash rich beyond belief) will keep cutting production, as we all would with a dwindling market due to EVs "eventual" takeover of the world, but diesel will still be needed for marine and HGV use so he who has the last reserves laughs the longest, sell it all now and they only have sand to sell....

NEW YORK, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Oil prices leapt nearly 6% on Friday, with Brent posting its highest weekly gain since February, as investors priced in the possibility that the conflict in the Middle East could widen as Israel began ground raids inside the Gaza Strip.

Israel's announcement marked a shift from an air war to ground operations to root out Hamas fighters a week after the militant Palestinian group's deadly rampage in southern Israel.

My fuel card provider tells me my weekly diesel price has gone down just over 2p since last week, to about 1.31 plus VAT.
