Got quite a famous eye hospital in B&H and pick up loads of folks having had cataract operations.

Basically, it's a conveyor belt, they line you up and you're done in no time.

Don't ask me about the old dear from Preston though.

My dad came out of hospital and decided to go down to his greenhouse but sight not good straight after and he hit his head on the greenhouse door ruptured his stitches and in hospital 2 weeks after that !

You don't have stitches after cataract surgery so what did he have done?

A few years back I had a job taking a lady back to Preston from B&H. Yep, still spending the money.

Lovely lady she had the procedure where they take a root from one of your teeth, put it in your eye and it helps you see again. The procedure was first used, IMO, by the cleverest c*** the world has ever seen.

She was one of the first people to have it, so after 30-odd years it began to fade and she came down for the professor to say there wasn't anything they could do. Which whilst disappointing she was happy that she had 30 extra years of seeing that she didn't expect.

On the way back I asked her how she became blind i.e. was it hereditary or did she become ill and that led to her losing her sight.

She said you are going to wish you didn't ask and laughed.

She explained she had a drinking problem and lived at home with her dog. One night after having a lot of booze she fell down the stairs and remained unconscious for a considerable time.

The dog being very concerned for her basically pawed at her face and popped both her eyes.

Well, it wasnt as bad as expected, and seems to have worked, 4 weeks of drops and then an eye test for new glasses for sure

my repaired eys seems better at distance than my left now, i suppose thats next

Glad it all went well for you, I had both eyes done 2 years ago. I couldn't do bus driving until 3 months after the 2 ops as it would take that long for my eyesight to recover properly. I still need glasses for driving buses , but new need another pair for reading! One bonus was that with the covid crisis messing up the annual medical, I've had an extra year with no medical. 2 x 6month extensions. Saved me £100.
