Just checking in to make sure you are all behaving yourselves. I'm still down in Essex, moved out of the hospital environment and onto the Ambulance Service. Am I missing the Taxi Trade? I'm missing the banter with the lads.

I went back up north over the weekend to visit the mother, she's not been very well, age-related. I was astounded at how far the trade had slipped into the gutter since I left in 2019, companies have been taken over and closed down by DG Cars in Nottingham, and there's no rank work left due to drivers ripping customers off with DG prices.

One cabbie who lives on our close is trying to get me to work part-time for his company, the missus would go mental if I went back on the road.

Stay safe everyone.

I'm delighted to hear you are still going strong, maybe it's the moving down south that has helped. :D

The trade is changing, in some cases it's better, but in many others not so much.

But it still attracts plenty into it, and some of them remain for over 30/40/50 years. :D

Glad to hear it's all going well for you down in Essex and there's even one team down there in the same divisionn as the Stags so you can get to see them once a season

Hi Sussex,

I'm astounded at how far it's slipped into the gutter company-wise and driver-wise. One company up north where I used to live has, sold out to the devil for close to £4million, paid over 5 years. They have also taken over the smaller companies and closed them down overnight leaving office staff without employment, and drivers without circuits.

The move down south has certainly helped, it's a different life south of Northampton, I should have done it sooner.

The Community Stadium just doesn't cut it for me, I was there last season when Mansfield played there, it's a soulless, cold place at the side of the A12.

Mansfield Town will always be first, saying that, when Braintree Town are at home and I'm off that weekend I'll go and watch them. Grassroots football is where it's at. 8) 8)

I've always supported a non league club and the quality has improved over the last 30 years as the influx of foreign players at the higher levels has cascaded good players down into non league.

A good non league game can be way more exciting than an average premier league game and I think non league pulls in more spectators these days.
