Well currently, to quote the Mad Hatter, it's his happy Unbirthday.

That might change soon. :D

A belated thanks for the birthday wishes, guys - thought I'd better wait until the excitement was all over before replying, just in case I felt a bit overwhelmed by it all

Well, not really - part of me tries to totally ignore stuff like this the best I can, particularly when it feels like getting even older :-o

On the other hand, there's always a slight sense of achievement in reaching another birthday, particularly when it's more of a milestone like 60.

And, I'm slightly excited about getting my bus pass

On the other hand, as things stand the bus pass will only really come in useful when the car's in the garage, which obviously I don't want, so it's a bit of a Catch 22 in that regard.

And not particularly looking forward to when I need the bus pass because I don't or can't have a car

And, also belatedly, I hope everyone made some, er, life-enhancing and life-fulfilling resolutions at new year. I did, as usual, but have dumped them all already

But this year I'd sort of decided to do some 60th birthday resolutions instead, so we'll see how they work out 8-[

For my New Year's resolutions, I said I won't smoke a single cigarette this year, nor have a single alcoholic drink all the time I'm in the UK.

And I'm pleased to announce I've kept to those so far this year.

That said, as I have never smoked nor ever drink alcohol in the UK, it's not really that much of an achievement. 8-[

In England we don't get our free bus passes until our 67th birthday.

Nearest I'll be to painting is a tin or two of Crown or Dulux in the spring, but as I'm in a rental property won't be going daft with that either :-o

But did think about buying myself something, but to be honest can't really think of anything I really need. Or at least something that wouldn't cost a fortune...

Of course, lots of stuff I could buy that wouldn't cost the earth, but probably something I'd consider a waste of money before too long.

So maybe Sussex is sort of right - maybe just crank the heating up a bit, or have it on for a wee while longer :-o

Certainly won't be cigarettes or alcohol, though. Never smoked (apart from the usual teenage experimentation) and haven't touched a drop of alcohol since before lockdown.

In fact, there's been zero alcohol consumed where I live since moving in seven years ago [-(
