Hi Folks, I am new on here and just in process of getting a PH licence to be self employed. Not working for an operator. I just wonder if anyone else has or in the process of becoming a PH driver. It seems that the biggest problem so far is the cost of the insurance. Therefore, based on other initial start up costs to obtain the Badge, along with the best part of £2500 for insurance cover, is the job rewarding enough to justify the costs that are involved? My insurance quotes so far are based on me having a clean licence for over 39 years! I await to hear from past/present members who were/are in a similar position, basically not knowing if its gonna be all worthwhile. Thanks in advance for all messages received. Please PM if you prefer to do that. Best regards |

Quote: Therefore, based on other initial start up costs to obtain the Badge, along with the best part of £2500 for insurance cover, is the job rewarding enough to justify the costs that are involved? It all depends on how much you need to earn, and whether you are prepared to work unsociable hours. The job is worth it, but you will never become a millionaire. In respect of the insurance, £50 a week for a newbie is good. In some of those ghastly northern places you could be paying £4,000 with years of no claims. |

In my district it is the same price for 1 car or 100+ cars. |

Best regards 25 years at it, PH mainly, own boss, not a base budgie PH ops licence £250 for 5 years (no refunds) depends at what level you go in at, schools and bookings or exec, but advertising is everything you might like a "no plate plate" on a Merc or Beemer or Vito 8 seater |
