Post subject:  DfT "Ergonomic requirements for accessible taxis"
The Mobility and Inclusion Unit of the Department for Transport has produced this document study on disabled vehicle access, titled "Ergonomic requirements for accessible taxis". It looks like the vehicle used for demonstration was the E7. Looking at some of the requirements mentioned in the report it would appear to me that LTI vehicles might come up short? It may be that LTI will have to make some dimensional adjustments in order to comply with the findings, which at the moment are not mandatory?

One thing that might surprise some is that rear-loading vehicles are not found to be as much as a hazard as some detractors suggest.

I saw an E7 trying to load a WAV customers today, and the chap in the chair nearly had his head cut off trying to get in. :shock:

Is that the same for the TXs? :?

I run a vito and yes the height is an issue with that as well if you get someone in a large or extra high wheelchair it's a hell of a job getting them in

No.

Because the floor of an E7 is higher than a TX or Metro, so therefore the ramp is at a steeper angle on an E7, and the driver has to push harder, and therefore has less control over loading and unloading wheelchair users.
