just thinking of buying a sat-nav for my car, as im new to this business ,can anyone tell me if this would be much help or not and can they recommend a good inexpensive one ...... thanks |

I've got one in my car and its brilliant when you get them blank brain moments and cant remember where somewhere is or if you get a totally out of town pickup, the base often give me some quite distance pickups as they know ive got sat nav. But dont try and use it to plan your route once you've got a punter in as they can take some wonderful routes. summing up i would say yes there worth having but you still need a good local knowledge. i've got tom tom 5 on a hp ipaq pda and it works well but not really in-expensive at about £300 |

Is that the one that picks out speed cameras, including the mobile ones? |

I think you're spot on......they are worth having but they are no substitute for local knowledge. Regards JD |

Wouldn't be without my Tom Tom, I find it useful in many ways not just the obvious, For example it finds actual street numbers so if the punter wants to go to no 352 the High Street, now of course I know where the High Street is but I have no idea how the numbers go and it's a completly different route depending on which end of said street. Also I do some work through a radio circut which allows me to have a certain amount on the metre when I arrive so I set the sat nav with the pick up address and it tells me how far away I am so when to turn the metre on. |

Me to, i have tom tom navigator, wouldnt be without it. Navigate to any hotel etc in the country at the press of a button. At night it's the bee's knee's. Imagine a long road, houses set back so you cant see the numbers? pop it on tom tom and you stop outside the door!! Just got the latest speed cam data base on today, update regularly and it great. hp 2210 with powered holder, wired haicom gps reciver £150. tom tom software  pm me .
