Should taxi operators, who don't actually drive the vehicles themselves, be members of an organisation that is supposed to represent employees (GMB) or one that represents businesses (CBI) ?

didn't rate them much because they like to tackle councils but won't here about complaints against people who advrtise in their little rag

Should taxi operators, who don't actually drive the vehicles themselves, be members of an organisation that is supposed to represent employees (GMB) or one that represents businesses (CBI) ?

Im wondering about this one someone owns a cab but dosnt drive it,therefore hes a proprietor,these we admit too membership,but a restricted version,IE limited admission to meetings,required to negotatiate and sign recognition agreement fulfill all legal requirements [contracts of employment,min wage,disciplinary,grievance procedures etc]So if your a small company,why not? we of course help recognised companies to obtain contracts where we have influence and would expect a local govt contract to go to a GMB recognised company all things being equal rather than a non rec company.We consider our agreements to be a business arrangment,fair treatment for staff we help company become even more profitable,therefore our members earn more,you know what it works!
Presumably someone from CBI or Small Business Conf will put their point soon.

some one tell me what can Gmb do that, say a local association can't do are the nta can,t do to be a memeber of the Nta cost per plate £0.38p per week. and what are all the free benifits you getfrom GMB, but you have to pay over £9 month for.
