one of my taxi friends had had enough, he got a contact with parcel delivery firm on self employment basis

he started today, they told him before he started he will get on average 70 parcels to deliver in 3 outlying very large villages, on his first day he got 140 parcels at a £1 per parcel, paid, fuel used, very little, took him 7 hours but at some of them no one was in so will have to go back again

he says there are ex electricians and ex plumbers doing the job, don't think I would do it but lets see how he goes.

One of my mates did it for a while and it nearly killed him.

Too much running around and in the end not enough money for it.

I would imagine that finding addresses and getting parked would be a bit of a nightmare at times.

But at least the parcels won't give you grief or puke up

a guy who used to drive for me is on the parcel game now hes knocking up 500 per week

Well we have members at a very big outfit earning £1500 a week it aint easy but possible some difficulties around holidays,one requirment brains,and no i wont tell non members who they are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a driver who does a bit of taxi driving and a bit of parcel work he gets paid on the mileage and gets around £300 to £400 per day on the parcels BUT he has to be out on the road at 4am and usually gets back about 7pm it is hard work but he now even has a driver doing his parcels work for him some days

Sounds like a very enterprising man, good on him

This is something I'm currently looking at in a small way, basically because these jobs seem to be handed down/out and not advertised etc.

If I could find such a job, I'd give it a go, because the way the hc/ph looks round our way (your way actually pete I think we know each other) I dont think I want to come back anymore, the jobs paying less for longer hours and all the plate rents are going up faster than inflation*10

Most parcel firms don't advertise, usually its word of mouth, see this firm, but if you have any parcel firm local they still recruit

Thanks looked at those, I know 2 of their drivers quite well, but they get odd days with early finishes and then days with hours that go on and on sometimes a 12 hour shift is not enough.

Due to my degraded health, I would not be able to take a break as and when needed, thats why HC was ok for me, if I felt unwell I could just go home (sometimes for an hour, sometimes for the rest of the night) and work extra to make up for the shortfall, PH would not want that, and any big firm like city with its timed deliveries would go spare.
