My daughter rang for a private hire car yesterday and told them that there would be herself and three young children, she was told that they could not send a car as none of them have booster seats, The question I'm asking out of curiosity is, our private hire exempt as well as Hackney.

12. What about travelling in licensed taxis? It is impracticable to expect the right child seat or booster to be available in a taxi unless parents have brought one with them. Therefore, there is a qualified exception so that if child restraints are not available in a licensed taxi or licensed private hire vehicle. under 3s may travel unrestrained but in the rear only; those 3 years and above must use an adult belt in the rear seat only. Remember that a child up to 135 cms in a front seat of any vehicle must use the correct child seat or booster. Surrey captain but the old eyes are Not What They Used To Be think it might be time to get a new pair of specs, but when you get into your twilight years you will find that you have to cope carefully with the pennies |

The main differance now from before really is the front seats for those that have them apart from that the situation for taxis is pretty much the same and from the point of view of seatbelt laws both hackney and private hire get treated the same |

You'll need a hearing aid as well if the Captain keeps shouting like that
