there were a whole 267 of them crying yesterday afternoon though
Carlisle United 3 Brighton & Hove Albion 1 by Footymad Match report from the afternoon away defeat versus Carlisle United A blistering first half from Carlisle saw them stretch their unbeaten run to seven games with a classy win over a poor Brighton side. The Cumbrians made a perfect start when Karl Hawley picked up Zigor Aranalde's throw and turned in the box to fire in his fourth goal of the season. Hawley's strike put Carlisle in the driving seat and they took advantage of some slack Brighton play to fire in a non-stop bombardment of crosses and long balls. Man-of-the-match Peter Murphy twice went close for the home side before his defensive colleague Kevin Gray doubled Carlisle's advantage after 31 minutes. Aranalde's looping free-kick was headed straight back to him and the veteran full-back smashed a low cross into the six-yard box where Gray was on hand to bundle the ball passed Michels Kuipers. Kevin Gall and Simon Hackney nearly combined for a third Carlisle goal as the Cumbrians dominated proceedings. Brighton almost pulled a goal back with their first shot at goal when the lively Dean Cox curled just wide from the edge of the box. The visitors then had a clear sight on goal but found Carlisle keeper Keiren Westwood in top form. Hitman Gary Hart rose unchallenged to head low towards the corner of the net but Westwood tipped the goalbound effort out for a corner. A reshuffle at half-time from the visitors, including shifting Hart to full-back, paid dividends as Carlisle struggled to find their first-half rhythm. A dour second half was lit up when Carlisle strung together an 11-pass move before adding a third. Aranalde played a first-time ball to Hawley whose inch perfect cross was met by Hackney at the far post. A late rally from the Seagulls saw them grab a consolation after a Murphy slip allowed Alex Revell to smash the ball past Westwood. But it was all too late for the visitors and their 267 fans as they made the long, long trip back to the south coast. |

It's easy to be negative about a place on another forum I am on we once ran a crap towns thread and the amount of flak being thrown at places was enormous BUT no one can actually prove that the criticism is justified if you go to a town when your having a bad day it will seem like a sh*th*l* If you went to the same town in a good mood it might seem like a great place |

Yes ican remember when Blackpool had a great team, one of the highlights of the season at Highbury was the visit of Blackpool,Amongst their best players,George Farm in goal, I think H Johnson,Alex Mudie.Stan Mortensen, who scored a marvelous hat trick in the so called Mathews final, and of course Stanley Mathews, and Jimmy Armfield a great team very good to watch,i suppose most people fromthe town now support Man U. |

So Captain Cab you are a football fan. Decent team up there in Carlisle by the look of things. What with the union bloke up there it that neck of the woods who won the record ever equal pay claim for 1,600 women workers in the health service things don't appear to be all bad up north. It will only take those of us interested in uniting in our industry to improve the lot of private hire and taxi drivers to get together to start improving things and Carlisle might really start making a name for itself. From struggling in division four and a reputation of half witted sheep shaggers bullied by the Scots to promotion to division two and a hotbed of trade union activity. Impressive |

Damned woman, they'll be wanting the vote next Quote: It will only take those of us interested in uniting in our industry to improve the lot of private hire and taxi drivers to get together to start improving things and Carlisle might really start making a name for itself. I dont follow you Quote: From struggling in division four and a reputation of half witted sheep shaggers bullied by the Scots to promotion to division two and a hotbed of trade union activity.
Carlisle Utd were relegated from division 3 into the conference, not 4, were currently in division 1 of the championship. I'm not so sure about being classed as a half witted sheep shagger, and my parents are Scots, so I tend to take offence. By the way, giving a patronising view of people from outside of London is precisely why people from London are despised

Well Captain Your lot are the greatest-time will tell. Women and the vote-it did make me wonder when they elected Thatcher I thought if you and your mighty organisation were to play a central co-ordinating role in uniting the industry it would be another feather in the cap for Carlisle. Sorry about the misunderstanding about what divisions you were in I tend to look at things in the old fashioned way divisions one, two three and four, obviously confusing for you younngsters. I forgot you actually got relegated to the Southern league or whatever you call it up there. I wasn't implying you were a sheep shagger rather the opposite I thought you were one of the new breed of forward thinking progessive types. My parents are English. It doesn't alter the fact that the ruling elite in England were and still are a a bunch of bullies stomping around the world imposing our values on other people through the barrel of a gun. Correction more like a bullies bag handler nowadays. As for patronising how could you imply such a thing I have nothing but the utmost respect for an organisation that can attract seventeen people to it's national meetings. By the way I had to enter discussion with you on this thread because I was unable to raise my intelectual level to the debate you were having about what town is smellier than the other. Baaaaaaaaaaaa |

There's slightly more than that, send me a cheque, I may even let you in Quote: By the way I had to enter discussion with you on this thread because I was unable to raise my intelectual level to the debate you were having about what town is smellier than the other.
