look at the rates
The problem with Courier work is the running costs.
I managed to latch on to a guy who has a good relationship with
Barclays and JPM Chase.
Mainly carrying internal mail, high value docs and hardware etc.
He's probably charging about £1 per mile and I get 60P per mile.
It was okay when I used to get doublers or backruns but it is normally
getting paid for the outward journey only.
If I get a London run I get about £80, £8 of which is Congestion charge.
Take off about £25 for fuel and I end up with £47 for a 230 mile round
trip that takes 5 hours.
I provide the van, insurance (£800 per year at 50% NCD) and the fuel,
he provides the work and the signage and the Goods in Transit insurance.
I grossed £28K last year and £30K the year before. I end up with about
£12K after costs.
My Ford Transit Connect has free warrenty and Service for 100,000 miles.
Just had me last free service and need to pay about £7K to chop in for
a newy.
I do regular evening runs fortnightly to London. This week I am on
call and need to be near a phone and ready to pick up within half an
hour and deliver avarage 50MPH any where in UK
