BRIGHTON PASSENGERS ARE FIRST TO GET INTO NEW LONDON TAXI Taxi passengers in Brighton will be travelling in style after Raj Vasanthen became one of the first in the country to take delivery of the new generation of London cab – the TX4. Veteran taxi driver Raj bought the TX4 from LTI main dealer Smith & Humphrey within just 24 hours of the vehicle being launched. The TX4 is the latest purpose built taxi to be launched by Coventry-based LTI Vehicles, who are the largest British-owned vehicle manufacturer and the country’s premier manufacturer of purpose-built taxis. LTI’s new addition to the roads – which not only retains the distinctive London taxi shape but also features an abundance of new features inside – is already making an impact on drivers and passengers alike. The TX4 has a lower-emissions, Euro IV compliant VM turbodiesel engine, giving a cleaner, quieter ride. It features anti-lock brakes as standard, has been upgraded for more comfort inside and has an eye-catching new front grille. And it retains its accessibility features, including an integral wheelchair ramp, brightly-coloured grab rails and induction loop that have helped to make previous TX models so popular. Raj Vasanthen said: “I have only had my taxi for ten days but I am over the moon with it. I deliberately bought a purpose built cab for investment purposes. I am an independent driver, which means that I require it to last. “I have been a cab driver for over twenty years and you cannot beat the London cabs. I previously owned a TXII which I had had for three years and I was extremely happy with it but the TX4 is in a totally different league. “It has better suspension and is a much smoother ride which is a big plus for my customers as Brighton tends to be very bumpy. The engine is quiet which is another major plus as I work nights and therefore causes minimal disturbance to residents. “Recognisability too is a major benefit. The new cab has retained its traditional shape and although my cab is white and green the shape is the classic London cab. The public adore the London cab and they feel safe - especially women late at night. I also feel safer as a driver.” He continued: “The new TX4 offers a whole new driving experience for both drivers and passengers. It is a great design and offers something for everyone.” |
