Post subject:  Taxi "written off" by uninsured driver

Hi there

I would really appreciate some advice from anybody please?

My son owns a black cab, and we share its use. We are both fully liscenced and insured. My problem is that whilst I was out working last night, another car crashed into my cab. The driver and passenger of the vehicle both got out and ran away!! My sons taxi is now a write off, which means that we are both now unemployed. There were no serious injuries, but plenty of witnesses.

I am devastated, the car was driving at such a speed taht it left me dazed, but it looks as if the driver of teh other vehicle was either uninsured or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

This is a terrible situation, and what I want to know is if I can claim compensation of any kind from anywhere?

You'll be covered on your own insurance, your insurance company will then claim their money through the motor insures bureau. All the insurance companies pay into the bureau then when one of their clients is involved in an accident with an UN-insured driver they claim from the bureau, your no claims might be affected for a few months while they sort out the ins and outs but your downtime will be minimal.

I got hit about 10 years ago by a woman with no insurance, no MOT and no tax plus she was over the limit, like I said above my insurance company claimed from the bureau then claimed from the driver when she got taken to court. I had to pay an increased premium for about 5 months but I got it refunded when they sorted it all out.
