Post subject:  Kid's day out

Dear Mr T

Please pass on my families fondest thanks to all who helped organise the
Christmas party for the disabled children at Sullivan s on Sunday 3rd
December 2006

My son Joe is 5 has severe learning difficulties and had a brilliant time!!!

I have searched for the "Sefton hackney drivers association for disabled
children" on line with no success but was so touched by the effort made
by all concerned to give these special kids a good day that I hope you
can pass on my gratitude.

It is always difficult to relax as a parent of a child who does not act
in a conventional way in public, therefore to have a room full of joyful
special kids all doing their own thing is a real treat for both parents
and children.

Please pass this message on to all involved and may you all have a
great Christmas, ( I,ll be the p--- head tipping you a fiver).

Best Regards

Joe's Dad

Well done Mr T, it's something thats always overlooked by our masters, is the endless work for charity / good causes carried out by the Taxi trade.

GBC,, actually it's not good on Mr T, the credit goes to the committee and the Sefton drivers, we take the kids out for the day in the summer, and then make sure they have a good Christmas party together,, the Sefton hackney trade take these kids to school day after day, they become more than just a customer.... :)

I know a lot of the cab trade do the same. I posted the e-mail because it is nice to see that for a few hours on one day the Taxi Trade made a difference.

Well Done! As I have a disabled child I can probably appreciate these efforts more than others. Efforts like this can appear thankless but they mean so so much to the children that get the benefits - you only have to take one look at one childs face and I defy you not to well up.

Keep up the great work in Sefton and spread out and encourage others to join you. You never know one day there might be a National Taxi Drivers event in aid of children who are less able / less well off etc. Now that is something I would definately like to see. Do you realise just how much money could be raised if every Taxi / PH driver in the Country agreed a Saturday night that all their tips would go to a combined charity - being lenient the average would be a fiver a head .......???? Thats one hell of a donation to some very deserving causes. Think about it!

Thanks Trevor - we are now Naval Cadets (Promotion at last!)

I wasn't trying to turn this thread to my own personal circumstances but like I posted there could be a natinal day when all tips were donated to a Children's Charity - for a National one; something like the Make a Wish Foundation where children are given a last wish! Maybe I should start a new thread and see how may people would agree - or a Poll? (erm blonde female needs help!)

Trevor keep up the great work that you do and just keep passing on those contacts to take the words out of Whitney Houstons mouth

"... the children are the future; teach them well ........"
