I have just taken delivery of a letter from my local constabulary, informing me that my vehicle was involved in a bump. I have a day driver who was driving the vehicle at the time. He says he didn't hit anything, just dropped off his passenger in the normal way. There is no damage to my vehicle. According to the police, a person who lives a couple of doors away witnessed my vehicle hit his vehicle, there is also an independant witness too. I have to fill in a form and return it to the local nick, any advice?

Just fill in your form, as you have told us.

It may also be an idea to contact your insurance company.

Ask to see the damage to the other vehicle as quickly as you can and take a camera with you. Better still, photograph it without them knowing, so that when they build up the damage before the assessor calls, you have a piccy of it without said damage on it.
