talking of booking discrimination, i had someone who was deaf trying to get me to let them in to my car last sat night outside a busy night club. he could talk just about ok but was very hard of hearing, and his girl friend was doing the hand signs when i was talking and i think he could lip read a bit too.
when i said that they would have to call the office to make a booking he started shouting and saying that he was going to report me for a breech of DDA, because he was deaf and unable to use the phone !!!
just cause he couldn't be bothered to wait for a black cab.
I'm afraid the DDA has gone to a lot of disabled peoples heads. Most of them don't know the law with regard to Taxis and Private hire vehicles and they think that because they have this catch all act of parliament that they can demand more or less anything.
What could eventually happen if it is not already happening, is that drivers may get that [edited by admin] off with this section of soceity that they give them a wide birth. There was an example of that from those eight london cabbies who refused to take that wheelchair passenger.
