If a hackney carriage picked up a fare say in York who wanted to go to London, would the York hackney be eligeable to use the bus lanes in London and would they be exempt from the congestion charge.

Yes he/she would. :D

Faw-v-TFL says a taxi licensed under the 1847 act is able to use any bus lane in London that a taxi licensed under the 1869 London act can.

But they would still have to pay the conjestion charge, or at least their punters will.

Further to the above, it's worth pointing out that Mr Faw was a PH driver.

Yet more evidence that you lot can't do without us.

Only London Taxis are exempt from the congestion charge, one of our lot went down on a job a few months ago, he didn't pay the congestion charge, 2 weeks later he got a letter through the door asking for money for the congestion charge.

Why the hell are only London cabs exempt, a taxi is a taxi no mater what it looks like as long as it licenced.
If I had received a begging letter I would have sent it back to RED KEN and would have told him where to stick it
And if I ever have the misfortune to go back to that stuck up place again I will make a point of going through every area and send all the begging letters back to the above,
Londoners are thick as pig shi t for paying up in the first place

Because Red Ken doesn't want us taking punters into London in a taxi/PH.

Which is fine by me cos it's a f***ing nightmare.

Thats whats happened to me when I wrote back and said it was a taxi they in turn wrot back and said they had checked their records and it was not a taxi, if I did not send the £50 within so many days it would double to £100, where do you pay this congestion charge there arent any toll booths or barriers where you stop and pay, how do you pay it in the first place, did I see a site on here where a man gets you off things like this.

Most petrol stations that do electric or gas top ups will do the Dreaded Con Charge but make sure they get your reg right. The one I went to didn't and I got a letter form Tfl saying I had not paid. I argued that I had (I kept the receipt) and they said I was at fault for not checking my reg on the reciept

I assume that when they said it wasn't on their records, they meant that it wasn't a London taxi.
