So are they going to ban London PH from using them as well, if they are so un-safe?

The safety of the sliding doors was one of the reasons the pco put forward for not licensing the vehicle in the first place. However, they also said they they would have no objection to the sliding doors if a fail safe mechanism was fitted. I'm not sure if they said this in public but they certainly said this to anyone who enquired about the reasons for declining the E7. The two main reasons for not licensing the vehicle were the turning circle and the sliding doors. I would expect these two points will probably form the main plank of the report I would suspect the sliding doors could be modified to stop them opening accidentaly so that really shouldn't be a problem. The turning circle argument would not stand up in a court of law therefore I suspect that particular condition may have been relaxed. What this report will undoubtedly do is make it easier for the connections of the E7 to eventually defeat the opposition to the licensing of the vehicle. Once the refusal conditions are laid out in this report all that has to be done is comply with those conditions. Alternately if the conditions are seen to be unreasonable under Uk or European law, the option of legal action is available. Best wishes John Davies |

Fail safe mechanism? The E7 doors are locked when the cab is in motion and the brake pedal when depressed, when not moving. Think this a a soft excuse to stop the E7 being sanctioned, but like the previous writer, this vehicle in my opinion, will be given the go ahead, sooner or later. Again no law is in force regarding turning circle, although it is a good selling feature. Still liked the Metros I used to have, although cost of keeping them on the road was awful. Pity they did not get their act together, plus proper engine, but for wheelchair journeys, brilliant. Regards, Ellgo. |

I hope that it does end up in court, if for no other reason than the PCO have had such an easy life with everyone bowing to their every order. The black cab trade bend over backwards to keep the PCO at bay, and until recently the PCO had jack poo to do with LPH. In short, the PCO need to now know that it's the government, or the courts that decide what's fair and reasonable, not those over-paid pre-madonna’s in their ivory towers. |
