I would have thought that taxi insurance should cover taxi 'tools of the trade' as standard.
As for your next insurance try the links page on here, or go through a copy of PMH and play one against the other.

Just venting anger here. I have a policy with tradex. Car broken into over £1300 of equipment stolen, inc meter,two way sat nav etc,yeah i should have removed satnav but didnt,smashed window broken lock. Tradex small print when read with a microscope all incar taxi equipment including meter and two way radio are classed as audio equipment ?? ( a taxi meter is classed as audio they say)which has a max payout of £250, when you check your excess that is also £250 hence i got not a penny apart from an offer to repair door lock at a cost of my no claims,so i had no choice but to cancel the claim,no payout for sat nav or any other equipment in the vehicle.I had to replace the whole lot out of my own pocket.exactly 2 weeks later,pulled up in a "BUSY" carpark,locked car and set alarm,hid cash bag,ran into shop came out,alarm going off smashed window cash gone,rang insurance to get an "answerphone" saying leave a name and number and we wil return the call asap, a week later no reply,had to drive the car home with glass everywhere in the rain to arrange with autoglass myself for a repair that took 3 days for the glass to arrive.total loss for the two break ins inc loss of earnings etc £1680 and no help kiss my arse or a sorry from tradex.. Policy due for renewal soon so if you have any good recomendations i would be gratefull of a good insurance provider that actually cares about its customers. PS avoid tradex or at least read your small print carefully before signing up. cheers. EDIT forgot to add cab was on my drive behind secure gates the first time it was done,jumped over the top of them i presume,they got the nerve for anything these days. |

i'm with tradex and few times i've had to deal with them has been no problem at all! both times recovering excess and loss of earnings from no fault accidents!
