Post subject:  Killing Time in Twickenham ??

This coming saturday I have a job whereby I have to drop somebody off at Twickenham (they will be watching the Rugby) and then pick them up again about 7 hours later,as I am travelling from Chester it means hanging around.

I assume that parking in Twickenham will be a nightmare so have ruled that out but how easy is it to drop someone off and pick them up again.

I am planning on taking my camera with me and wondered what photo type opportunities and places there are in the local area.
I am tempted to visit Hampton Court as I believe it is not too far away but would appreciate some local knowledge if there is anyone here from that area.

Also how safe is it to leave my car in say Hampton Court carpark and maybe get the train into Central London for a quick bit of sightseeing.
Thanks in advance.

There is a car park at Richmond Station £11.50 all day you can get a train into Central London from there.

There is Richmond Park which has a lot of deer in (always good for a photo) which you can drive through.

Hampton Court with parking not sure how far it is from the station though.

Best way to see the sights is to get a day ticket for a bus and just hop on and off as you want. The big london tour busses are about £20 a time but for £3.50 you can travel all day on London Transport

Have a good day

Dropping at Twickenham is not a problem if you are early enough. It does get busy about an hour before the game. After the game there is a traffic curfew for about an hour to get all the spectators out of the ground. Getting away from the stadium after the game is a nightmare. Last time I was there it took an hour to do 1 mile and this was after the 1 hour curfew as well. The station car park is a much better option. There is usually a dedicated bus service from the station to the ground.

Thanks for the info,I will be dropping off about 3 hrs before the game which is ok but I expect that I will have a problem when I try to pick them up again.I myself nor my passengers have any local knowledge at all so I imagine that I will have a nightmare finding them again afterwards.
How long after the game finishes will it be before I can get to the stadium ??

Your best bet would be to get back to the stadium either 30 minutes before the game ends and park in the industrial estate next to the RFU offices which are accross the road from the stadium. If you get there earlier you will have to pay to park there. Alternativly there is a Tesco super store just around the corner and you may be able to park there. Remember the traffic will be realy bad for at least a couple of hours after the game.
