Now I know a lot of you up north will have never seen a £50 note, well not a real one at least, but why do we have them? They drive me crazy, the punters don't need them so why do they try and pay with them. Other than using us as a change machine. Sack full of them yes, to pay a cab fare no.

Don't be silly Sussex, if it was not for £50 notes I would never be able to close my wallet.

I think there used to be an English £100 note many years ago I do vaguely remember seeing one but they were withdrawn i think Anyway sussex i always start with a £60 float £30 in change £30 in £5's so unless i get 3 £20s in the first 3 fares it's not a problem round here you often go a whole day without seeing anything bigger than a £5 so not normally a problem I used to go out with less but got fed up with getting cleaned out of change so nowadays i make sure so if you get ;loads of £50's carry enough change to cover one no worries then ! |

The guys that paid £60,000 for their plates should know what colour they are. They must have seen plenty as they handed them over.

![]() Quote: thats true, but we don't see many of them Yes, I've never seen one and I don't know anyone who has either!!!! The fifty pound notes are also like hens' teeth (I get one a year at most) and the only ones I've ever seen are Bank of England. The Scottish £100 note is probably like the £1 note - just a corporate gimmick - and at least the pound notes seem to have almost disappeared as well. I had about a month ago and that was about the first one for months, a year even

Bet they love you then if they're your first fare - they give you a £50 note and they get 6 fivers and £15 quid in shrapnel as change?
