Here's a snippet of news from Milton Keynes that has a couple of points that should have been well and truly laid to rest a long time ago. One is the legality of P/H illuminated roof signs and the other is fare regulation for the private hire industry.
Milton Keynes Private hire association has a problem with some of their drivers overcharging customers. Their spokesman Mr. Edwards seems to think that the local council should sort the matter out.
Most people who subscribe to this forum will probably know that pricing is the sole domain of the individual Private hire company. So why has the Milton Keynes independent Private hire association representitive made it a council issue? Should he not realise that it is up to each individual P/H company to put their own house in order.
The second titbit in this article is the fact that Milton Keynes are soon to allow illuminated roof signs on Private hire vehicles. Some might think this is a contentious decision in the light of what is presently legally allowed to be displayed on the top of any vehicle, including private hire vehicles.
